What is tilkbook?
tilkbook is online booking software for service businesses — hairdressers, dentists, lawyers, personal trainers, and other appointment-based businesses. Clients pick a service, staff member, and time on your public booking page, 24 hours a day; you manage staff, services, and schedules from one dashboard.
Is tilkbook actually free?
Yes. The Free plan is genuinely free — unlimited bookings, no time limit, no credit card required to start. Paid Pro and Enterprise plans add multiple staff, deposits, a custom domain, API access, and SSO for when you outgrow Free. See the full breakdown on the pricing page.
How long does setup take?
Most businesses are live within about 10 minutes: add your services (30 vertical-specific templates speed this up), set your business hours, add at least one staff member, and share your booking link.
Do I need a website already?
No. Your tilkbook booking page works as a standalone link — share it directly, put it in a social bio, or send it in a text message. There is no website required to start taking bookings.
How does booking and scheduling actually work?
Can clients book outside my business hours?
Yes — the booking page is open 24/7. Clients only see slots that fall inside the hours and availability you set, so you never get a booking request for a time you are closed.
Can I have multiple staff members with their own schedules?
Yes, on the Pro plan and above. Each staff member gets their own service menu, pricing, and availability, so clients pick their specific stylist, provider, or trainer rather than the next open slot.
Can I run more than one location?
Multi-location support is a paid feature. You can start on Free with a single location today and add additional locations when you upgrade.
What happens if I'm already using a calendar for other commitments?
Connect Google Calendar and tilkbook reads your existing busy time to block those slots on your booking page automatically — clients can never book you into something you already have scheduled elsewhere.
Is there a waitlist if a staff member is fully booked?
Yes. Clients can join a waitlist for a fully booked staff member. When a cancellation opens a slot, tilkbook automatically notifies the next person on the list with a link to claim it.
How do payments and deposits work?
Does tilkbook process payments?
Yes, through Stripe. You can charge a deposit, the full service price, or nothing at all at the time of booking — configurable per service.
Can I charge a fee if a client no-shows?
Yes. Mark an appointment as a no-show and tilkbook charges the configured fee automatically against the saved payment method, through Stripe.
Does tilkbook take a cut of my bookings?
No. Stripe's standard processing rates pass through as-is — tilkbook does not add its own fee on top of what you charge clients.
Can clients tip, or can I run discount codes?
Yes to both. Clients can add a tip at checkout (tracked separately in your reporting), and you can create flat or percentage discount codes with expiry dates and usage limits.
What if I need to refund a client?
Issue a full or partial refund directly from the tilkbook dashboard — it flows through Stripe without any manual steps on the payment side.
Do clients get reminded automatically?
Does tilkbook send appointment reminders automatically?
Yes. Once a booking is confirmed, the reminder schedule fires on its own — you do not send anything manually.
Are reminders free?
Email confirmations and reminders are free on every plan, including Free. SMS text reminders are a paid upgrade for businesses that want the higher open rate of a text on top of email.
Can clients reschedule or cancel without calling me?
Yes. Every reminder includes a direct link for the client to reschedule or cancel their own appointment, so changes do not have to come through a phone call.
Can I customize the reminder timing and wording?
Yes. Set reminder timing per service — a short appointment might only need a 24-hour reminder, while a longer one can send both a 48-hour and a 2-hour reminder — and write your own message templates with merge fields for client name, service, time, location, and staff.
What does tilkbook connect to?
Which calendars does tilkbook sync with?
Google Calendar has live two-way sync today, on every plan including Free — new bookings push instantly, and existing events block your slots. Outlook and Apple/iCloud Calendar can already block your availability today via a read-only ICS calendar feed (paste your calendar’s share link and busy events hide your slots); full two-way sync for those two is coming soon.
Does tilkbook work with Google Meet for virtual appointments?
Yes. Mark a service as virtual and connect Google Calendar, and tilkbook generates a unique Google Meet link for every booking of that service automatically, added to the confirmation email and the calendar event — no copy-pasting a link by hand.
Is there an API?
Yes. Paid plans include a REST API, real-time webhooks, and an MCP endpoint so you can connect tilkbook to a CRM, EHR/PMS, or any custom workflow — including letting AI agents check availability and create bookings directly.
What is the shareable digital business card?
Every account and staff member gets a shareable digital card with their services, live availability, and a booking link, free on every plan. Share it as a link, a QR code, or an NFC tap.
Do I have to migrate my data to switch?
Do I need to export data from my current booking tool?
It depends which tool you are on. Switching from Calendly or Setmore needs no export at all — you set up your services fresh (a vertical template speeds this up) and connect Google Calendar so existing commitments still block your new schedule. Will my existing appointments get double-booked while I switch?
No, as long as you connect Google Calendar during setup — tilkbook reads your existing busy time immediately and blocks those slots on the new booking page.
Do you have templates for my type of business?
Yes — 30 vertical-specific templates cover common service-catalog setups (salons, dental, legal, fitness, and more), so you are not building your service list from a blank page.
What about data, compliance, and support?
Do you support SSO?
Yes — SSO and SAML are available on the Enterprise plan.
Can you sign a DPA or BAA?
